In order to make changes, it is necessary to identify what needs to be changed, how the culture of the organization supports change, and what the goals of the changes are. Management and employees must be willing to accept and embrace the change. Below you will see a list of companies that neglected to make changes that might have allowed them to remain viable.

Choose one of the following companies and evaluate how creating and managing change might have allowed them to remain successful. Most of these companies were among the most successful in their respective industries but are either no longer in business or a mere shadow of their former selves.

• Formulate recommendations that could have helped prevent this business failure by using change management.
• Discuss which change management processes you would have recommended.

• Examine why you think they avoided change rather than embracing it and using the appropriate change management processes.
• Explain the lessons you have learned about embracing and managing change.
• Conclude if you feel that this business could have been saved by properly addressing change.
