Booklet of the legislative acts in which to assess the Palace Hotel
Legislative acts and statutory regulations have a significant impact on any facility operations management. One of the well-known Facility Operations Management Legislative Policy is the six-pack regulations which is basically made up of six primary sets of legislative regulations introduced in the year 1992 (TOMAR 2009 43). Some of its sets significant to Pestana Palace hotel includes the Health Management and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 which is basically a management regulation policy (GUSTIN 2003 13). By way of explanation, this legislative regulation ensures that there is a suitable as well as sufficient assement of risks to employees. Additionally, this management regulation helps to organize, plan, control, monitor, as well as review safety and health arrangements
Another legislative regulation is the Workplace regulation 1992. By way of explanation, it controls and governs some of the roles and responsibilities that Palace hotel managers have to manage such as ensuring that the working space is clean, well-ventilated, well-lit and well-organized. The third Act is the Manual Handling Operations Regulations of 1992 which governs the transportation of a load within the facility (ANIL KUMAR & SURESH 2006, 50).
There are some other Acts in Hotels that have never been changed. Some of this Acts may directly or indirectly be applied to Pestana Palace Hotel operations such as the DDA Act-Disability Discrimination Act 1995, Sexual Discrimination 1999 and Employment Equality-sexual orientation Act 2003. In this case, the facilities manager responsibility is to ensure that all the legislative Acts and regulations are fulfilled (TOMAR 2009 43).
