This dissertation will demonstrate the significance of the maritime sector in climate change legislation so that a picture can be painted using a study of relevant research works, with a focus on the transport marine sector in particular.
1.6 Novelty Involved
Over millions of years, gas and oil develop in the water, with animals and plants falling to the ocean bottom. They are buried and pulled into many kilometers-thick layers of silt on the ocean bottom in conjunction with particles washed off the land. Bacteria transform cellulose into precursors from which hydrocarbons eventually develop, with help from the Earth’s pressure and temperature conditions. These hydrocarbons may penetrate particular rock and sediment layers when they migrate up to the surface during a process known as migration. In certain instances, they are trapped in impermeable rock strata, which eventually create real deposits. Oil or natural gas grows depending on the environment. Fossil fuels now exist between the ages of 15 and 600 million. During this time, the continental plateau changed, and the seas transformed into landmasses. The consequence was that both land and sea are mineral deposits. Oil and gas often blanket the ocean bottom with enormous silt layers.
