Political culture entails the values, beliefs and attitudes that are associated with the political process in a specific place. The traditionalistic culture is about valuing social ties and family more than the other cultures do, for example, keeping everything as it is and refusing to change the rules to meet the needs of citizens. The individualistic culture views the government as utilitarian. For example, the political leaders focusing more on themselves while ignoring the needs of the people who voted for them. The moralistic political culture is one in which more value is placed on the common good and government, with attention to the needs of the people. For example, a political leader looks into the needs of the people and takes care of them, exercising his political duties while upholding the standards of ethics.
Descriptive representation is where the people elect a person that they think would best meet their interests. For example, the people electing a person who comes from their state as president because they have the idea that he will better meet their interests. Proportional representation entails closely corresponding the votes of the people with the distribution of seats in the legislature. For example, where each member of the state is given a number of seats that are proportional to their geographic area/ population. Party voting entails voting for a person whose ideas are in line with the ideals of the party and the people they represent—for example, voting for a person because they belong to a party that represents your ideals. The political culture may affect the representation type because people hold different ideals; they are likely to choose a person that represents their political ideas.
